We found this gorgeous French spot, Le Grenier, really close to our Airbnb. And my God did we eat! The brunch deal was a Maincourse, Dessert and a Drink for $20! A great deal when you are used to New York prices. And talk about big portions! I order the Croque Monsieur which came with a side of fries, the was delicious but I couldn’t even finish it, which is unlike me. Then we got a Nutella crepe for the dessert portion of the meal, all washed down with a mimosa! A great start to our DC weekend and it fuelled us for the whole day. And of course that decor, an absolutely gorgeous spot!

Rasika

Rasika is an Indian restaurant that we had dinner in on the Saturday and it was definitely the most extravagant meal we had when we were away #treatyoself #wereonholidayssure. We had to wait for a table at the bar so we ordered the most delicious Candied Ginger Champagne Cocktail as you do! We were only waiting about 5 minutes before we were seated in the end so we brought our cocktails to the table. We had the most amazing waiter who described ever dish in detail and convinced us to try their famous Crispy Spianch dish, Palak Chaat, as a starter along with some Popodoms. I have never tasted anything like it and I would have no idea how to replicate it at home, but it was absolutely beautiful! I still dream about it! From there, we order Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken with rice and Naan bread for our main course which was divine. I usually like my Tikka Masala to be very “tomatoey”, to use the technical term, and Rasika’s Masala was definitely more aromatic and flavourful which I really enjoyed also. I got the Chocolate and Cardamom tart topped with strawberries which again, was sensational!  We finished the meal with some Indian Masala Chai Tea and rolled out the door!

Ebenezer’s Coffeehouse

We popped in here on Sunday morning for a quick coffee and croissant. The pastry selection was limited but I managed to get a strawberry croissant that did the job. The coffee was another story! I ended up getting a Honey & Lavender Iced Latte and my friend got a Rose & Vanilla one, the were absolutely delish! The flavours were quite strong so it mightn’t be to everyones taste but I loved it. S0 if you want to be adventurous with your morning coffee, I definitely recommend here.

Chaia

Chaia is a vegetarian taco restaurant in Georgetown, a lovely part of DC that we didn’t get to spend enough time in. You pick three tacos and a side, so I got the Mushroom, Creamy Kale & Potato and the Collard Greens ones with a side of Blakc Beans. They were so tasty and you could tell the were made with good ingredients. A great balance of taste and health! If I went again I probably wouldn’t order the Collard Green one and order another Mushroom one, which was divine. I also got the Pear, Spinach and Cucmuber juice which was tasty and refreshing. The interior is gorgeous and I really enjoyed photographing it. Also, lovely friendly staff!

Dog Tag Bakery

After finishing up in Chaia, all we had to do was cross the road to find a perfect dessert spot, Dog Tag Bakery. I got the Vanilla Chai tea and the most delicious Oreo Cheesecake! There was loads of cakes and baked treats to choose from. And proceeds go to Veterans and Military families so its well worth a visit.
